Why not!? Apart from costing an arm and a leg to keep em up and running, a lot of time needs to be spend as well... time is a commodity a lot of us have less and less ... relationships, children, new job with longer commute or different position with higher workload ... which means we're forced more and more to decide between having fun or taking care of the servers or other services we offer here at Hardmaps.
And sometimes on these forums, when a server/service is not available or not functioning people sound a bit like they "demand instant action" because Hardmaps does not deliver the "service like it was advertised" ... I'll still have to (and hopefully never will) see a threat to involve lawyers yet, but more than once got the feeling, it wasn't so far away anymore ... And You can imagine this tone of conversation takes the fun out of taking care for this stuff in more than a very big hurry ... if compared to traffic, the equivalent would be a stout pillar of a bridge appearing right in the way of your car named "fun" ... a screeching noise and sickening impact .... takes a while to recover from ... and sometimes you will not walk away from such a crash ...
So after being driven in to this bridge pillar once too often, Quick might just have come to the conclusion every one of us hosts is eyeballing from time to time and quit hosting ....
.... or he is just too busy or on holiday to take care of things in the customary 6 hours response time we defined in our service level agreement with our customers .... errrrr .... wait ....
just be patient ok!? When Quick got the time to deal with the server or line problem, he will...

It slowly gets there, as we were able to put tapestry into to rooms and have the kitchen painted and ready to put the actual kitchen in there this weekend...
Some (make that: lots) more work to be done, but we plan to move in before the end of the month .... (and do not ask about the garden .... , yet....)
I fear the IC and ICE server will be down for a couple of days, since the telephone provider messed things up .... I mean, who would have thought that every single house build in this designated building area actually wants their OWN telephone ... really every single one of them ... Well, they try to find some loose cables now that they can connect to the line that runs into my new house ... since I asked them about it January I canceled my old contract at its normal cycle, which ends on 16th of April ... and that's the day the shaking starts for me :-D ...

Wow, silence is golden and deadly. The servers are down for maintenance, not that it really matters why they are down. They will be back online when I have the time to take care of the problems, but they aren't gone forever (that is, unless you want them to be gone forever, which I can accommodate). I'm hoping to have them back online sometime next week.

Hey look who's back, it's JOLLY ST. QUICK!! Nice to hear, most of us diehards miss your servers!

Yea Cardinal quite brash of you to ask and expect for your own phone line lol........So are you working hand and hand with your contractor.....sweat equity?? Here in the states as a builder myself we basically can turn around a 2800 to 3200 sq ft house from the time we dig to the front door knob in approximately 6 months. (weather permitting and landscaping to follow)

They finally managed ... dug up the hole, that they dug and closed in December, again and connected the cables, now I am online .... As for "sweat equitiy", we "only" did the wallpapers, carpets and exterior stuff, like paving and the garden, the rest was done by our contractor or other craftsmen we employed, but it still keeps us busy, since we both work "on the side" ;-) in our real jobs... the staircase is still not finished, the rest inside is all done :-D Hopefully outside will soon be done as well ... It took us 7 month to get the house done, but with a continuous frost in January and February, so I guess the contractor would have kept his 6 month, weather permitting, promise as well... We build everything in lime-sand brick with an isolation and rendering on the outside and just very little dry building inside (mainly the attic and one wall between kitchen and housing technology room, because of a sliding door).
We took another month, April, to get everything in a usable state, moved in end of April and finished the last room in the first week in May... now it is mainly getting organized and put everything in its place, apart from wallpapering and painting the staircase, that is...
And hopefully I will find the opportunity to get back to gaming soon! :-D
