Oldman the creator of NLH (niles helper) have made a new version of NLH v7, but this time you need to PAY for it, and in the same time all other version of NLH have been dissabled to use.

This is a big knife in the back on the jo community that only live thnx to all the fans, due nova dont give a shit about the games anymore.

Well it takes time to make a program, and ppl want to get somethings for it, but why stop us to use the old versions of nhl and force us to pay for the crap.

Well well, the program will be out free soon by someone ells, torrent are good sometimes.

So thnx Oldman for all the work and the support to kill the JO community one more time.

More about it

Meken

I agree with meken when he say's it wasn't very nice to disable the Old versions of NLH..

I do however disagree that this action contributes in killing the JO community...
NLH is only a tool to make it easier to make maps with N.I.L.E.. All actions done with NLH can also be done by hand and N.I.L.E itself...

It only takes a bit more effort to do it... Also the Info at Godfathers site concerning mapmaking will also be available for free.
Everything that's in NLH is covered in the forums as well. (e.g. how to write the right code).

It's not that NLH can perform wonders in working with N.I.L.E. . It's just an interface to make it easier to handle...

And as for the payment...it's just $10 that's 8 Euro's for a LIFETIME subscription... with all updates and info...

I payed gladly for it, to show my Appreciation for all of Oldmans hard work...

I myself have always pointed out in the past that there was a new version available on Godfathers to download...
Made posts on hardmaps to inform of these new versions available...
I have never seen anybody from these forums (Except TISA and Reaper) on godfathers to thank Oldman for his work...

Again I agree with Meken this wasn't the right way to handle the Old versions of NLH.

I must point out btw that this is NOT an action of Godfathers Forums but the decision was all Oldmans. Godfather just made his site a platform for Oldman to test end make NLH available for those who would like to use it....

Just read this thread today, yes I know it's sorta late...
OK, it's not often I type my opinions on this forum, but here goes...

Have You ever considered that maybe those two (TISA & Reaper) are the only two who use the NLH?
Why should I, as a HardMaps member, thank Oldman for something I'm not using?
I'm not thanking Skoda for making cars just because my neighbour has one? Or should I???

I forgot about this thread, but having read Longbows reply I have to agree with him, both Shadowman and myself use Xmed to create our maps so why would we go to another site and thank some one for making a program that only supports Nile?

Having said that I have purchased NHL7 and use the wac editor, and its worth $10 just for that alone.

Maybe I should have rephrased that...I have never seen anybody from these forums (Except TISA and Reaper) ,who's using NLH , on godfathers to thank Oldman for his work...

Of course there is a flip side of this as well.

Ever see how many servers run HmS maps? A LOT!!!

And yes we get thanks from people, mainly those that play ON our servers and know us.

But our guys, I think, make maps for the enjoyment they get - esp in the testing servers where they cackle with glee as we all die.

Its in the making of things and the thanks come from SEEING people use the maps, not so much in forum thanks. The fact HmS maps are so widely used is thanks enough....

I wont comment about having to pay for NLH as it is down to each individual and what they would like to do.

Your comment about not having seen anyone from these forums who is using NLH going over to godfathers forum and thanking oldman is however, i feel, in need of a comment.

Im sure everyone who is using or has used NLH appreciates the work oldman has put into it but for you to remark that he has never been thanked from anyone here apart from the ones you mentioned is not really relevant.

I could say i have never seen you over at the creators of Hardmaps content management systems forum thanking them for creating it so you can use it here.

We use many different tools and systems with the website and server hosting made by lots of people who give their work for free, most of which we have not thanked but we do appreciate the work that has gone into these systems that we would be lost without, if we did not appreciate them why would we still be using them.

We give our servers, website and maps etc for everyones enjoyment for free without seeking thanks, we know people appreciate them as they are well used and it is wonderful when we do get a thank you.

I seriously doubt shad is going to start to charge people for his maps and the most he usually hears is "you git shad" when we test a map as he has placed a nasty 50 cal somewhere, he does however know we appreciate his work creating maps for our enjoyment (this goes for the other hardmaps mappers), but for the record shad....

THANK YOU!

Come on Wedge...I have made my thanks a few times here on the forums and the shoutbox..Thanking you personal and Trevor on your birthdays for the great work you guys did...Also giving my complements on how the hardmaps community made it a lot more fun playing Joint opps...In fact, if it weren't for you guys I wouldn't even be making maps...your maps are what inspired me to start building maps..

But thats beside the point...

What isn't beside the point was my comment that I also thought it wasn't the best way Oldman handled this...

I'm not expecting people to pay Godfathers a visit to thank Oldman for his work. What bothers me is, as long as people can use these tools, content and other stuff forums like Hardmaps and Godfathers provide for free you don't hear them. But as soon as it's not for free anymore they start making comments...

Comments like, and I quote "So thnx Oldman for all the work and the support to kill the JO community one more time."
