Game just out on the Steam platform - yes, you need a Steam account to get it and play.
Was on sale but now its about $15US or 10UK.
Based on the Half-Life Source engine, so the graphics aren't cutting edge, but its the game play that makes up for it. This is no spray and pray or shoot and scoot game - you REALLY need to take your time and plan your moves. You can host your own servers using the downloadable dedicated server files, but it takes some messing about to get it to work. Trev has one he pops up when we're around.
There are different modes, but so far we've really only played to Coop mode - Player v. AI - and its DAMN tough. These bots aren't your totally stupid kind, they can flank you if you're not watching, and can be damn good shots. There's still a few glitches once in a while, like bots shooting you through a smoke screen, but the devs are constantly tweaking the game to sort the issues out.
And they will be putting out the code to make your own user made maps - Shad and Trev could have a field day.
We haven't really played it a lot, so I can't give a long review, but its very promising. Some odd controls to access weapons, but once you figure it out its no problem. A number of classes to play, but most classes allow an overlap of the primary weapons. Snipers are the only ones with a sniper weapon, but the other guns can be modified with scopes to make them almost as effective as the sniper rifle. There are about 8 slots for players, so its a mix of different classes, some only one of (like sniper and support) but others like rifleman are multiple. No medics in this one, if you're shot and not killed you back off and you slower recover. Once you're dead, you have to wait till your team takes the next objective - usually only a couple minutes of waiting.
So far only Trev, Wedge and I have this, and we haven't all been in at the same time. More players would make it even more interesting as the more you have the more bots and the more intelligent they are. Its definitely worth a look. Its like we felt back in the days of JO, but with smarter bots that can seem to think a bit more rather than just follow a prescribed path.

You know that feeling when you played Shad's Blue Tag, and you don't know if you got that last guy, or if there's one extra just around the corner, so you get all tensed up, and you're shoulders cramp?
That's what you get playing this - you never know if there's a guy around the next corner, because he wasn't there last time. Or that one guy you saw run fast past the building, he might just sneak up behind you. Or you might get a molotov or grenade or even an rpg to the face.
Haven't had that tense feeling in a while. Pretty cool.

For those that have been here a while... its like the old campaign maps, point hunters will not like it, its all about the team winning. Butcher and Longbow will love it.

LB's gonna really love this part.
I was in a ccop map by myself, and the silencer (which we thought didn't matter in coop) really DOES make a difference. I had the bots running around in circles trying to find me. Of course once one sees you, watch out.
