One- could be some nasty spyware on your pc. I had a similar error a long time ago, and end result was wipe of the hard drive, and format c:\. Was a nasty string of spyware that I couldn't seem to get rid of that modified the admin privileges looked at by PB.

Hi guys
It's possible thats it's spyware but the pc is just over a week old and runs Vista which has all the latest updates along with Norton Internet Security ( i know Norton is a pain but i dont think that is why im getting the error messages as JO has full access in the firewall) and nothing gets in, out or runs without you having to give it permision, it also to seems scan everytthing that comes onto or leaves the pc, i was thinking along the lines that it was software related so i altered all the ownership and permisions of all the punkbuster files to grant access to everyone who uses the pc but it still didnt wotk kept getting the same messasge " Inadequate O/S privilages ". I tried the page that Blazer posted but didnt find an answer so im back to square 1 again lol any other thoughts are very welcome

Thanks

Chris

My only fix for your problem is to play in our reality server, as its passworded and for ventrilo users only it has not got PB running.

Hope you get a fix soon.

how about this Coolie ?

"How can I run my game with PunkBuster support under Windows Vista? "

To run PunkBuster under Windows Vista you will need to run the game as an administrator. To do this, right click the icon you use to launch the game. Select "Properties", then the "Compatability" tab. From that tab, check the box labled "Run this program as an Administrator" and click ok.
We are currently exploring methods to extend PunkBuster to work with Vista without requiring users to run as admin.

How to make JO work in Vista x86 RTM.

Copy PunkBuster folder from XP install. (\NovaLogic\Joint Operations Typhoon Rising\pb)

1.Install JO under Vista.
2.Install PunkBuster.
3.Delete pb folder (\NovaLogic\Joint Operations Typhoon Rising\pb).
4.Copy pb folder from XP install.
5.Right click shortcut to JO -> Properties -> Compatibillity, check "Run this program in compatibillity mode"
Choose "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". Check "Run this program as an administrator"

The same applies for JO:ESC, just do step 5, but with JO:ESC shortcut.

If you have a NVIDIA card, disable DDI Threading to prevent glitches an artifacts.
