Well folks, I have tried everything I can think of. Support from HP, Microsoft, and Nova World has proven to me that none of the above know's anything about this crappy sp2, and it's effect on LW. And with that my friends, I guess I must bid online gaming, bye bye. I just can't believe that I go out and spend $1500.00 to upgrade, and I can do less now then before. Makes alot of sence. If anyone come's up with the magic bullet for this, please mail me...Thnks again, and it was great while it lasted. (94) (94) L.H.O. (94) (94)

Xan,
I have Cable connection through Insighbb. This is the same as I had on my older computer. I haven't changed anything but the operating system, which is XP media canter. I had XP pro. I can only figure that it is something to do with all this firewall crap that came on this new computer. This computer had the sp2 already loaded on it, and from what I have heard it causes nothing but problems with connecting to outside servers. I have delt with HP,Microsoft, and Nova Logic support, without any luck. I have tried shutting down everything that I can to connect, and still no luck. I have the Norton anti virus on this computer as well, and have disabled everything on it also. Still the computer locks when I get to the "join" screen. It will also lock when I try and update, even though I know I am updated. I have tried putting in the port #'s, and placing the entire program in the ignore box on firewall screen, but still lock up every time I try to join. Microsoft told me that my problem is in the tier 3 catagory and that would cost like $50 bucks an hour to figure out ( as if Bill Gates isn't rich enough) that really ticked me off, seeing as it's their fault in the first place. That's where I am at this point. I really miss playing on line. I was really getting to know quite a few of the players and starting a nice relationship with a couple. (as much of one as you can online). My wife doesn't get it at all, she say's to just get another game that I cn play online, but that isn't the point. Atleast I don't think so anyway. This was a great way for me to blow off steam after coming home from the Firehouse, and now I can't do a thing but Solitare, great waste of money on my part. o Ok, sorry, went off the deep end there. But anyway, I have tried everything I know to this point, just keep running into that stupid block of some sort. Still open for any kind of ideas from the great beyond. So here's to the great hope of playing again sometime, hopefully soon. Hate to let my stats die off, and start all over again, even though I'm still a, (can't bring myself to say it) Noob. (69) Well XaN, I hope this gives you an idea as to what I have done so far and the shape I'm in on this end. Take care and PEACE..... (94) (94) L.H.O. (94) (94)

Xan,
Still have the old machine, but not sure how I would ever get it hooked back up, with the Wife looking at me as I type this, I'm almost, well ok,(jab in the rib from behind) I WON'T be able to hook it back up. I kind of gave it to the kid's and would meet sure death from the FIVE of them if I took it back. Can't figure out what else it could be. One of those mysteries of life I guess.

Ok, everyone. Back to square one. Thanks Killzone, but I was able to delete sp2 and still lock up when I hit the join screen. All other programs such as Norton firewall, and antivirus and pop up blocker are disabled, and still freezing on join screen. Tried to join other servers on nova world with the same result. (15) (15) Any other ideas. (94) (94) L.H.O. (94) (94)

Deep Six,
This was the only game I ever tried online. Am a bit new to the whole "online thing" atleast the gaming side of things. So I really couldn't tell ya. I have talked to the IT guy that runs all of the network stuff for our city, and he told me that he doesn't think that it is an issue with sp2. He said it sounds more like a Norton Virus scanning thing. He's going to look into it, and get back with me sometime this week I hope. Should come over and take a look at it soon, and with alot of luck, and maybe a bit of Beer, should be back up and running soon. Keep your fingers crossed. PEACE
my suggestion is to format hard drive on new puter (42) . Put on win version you had on old puter (54) . That's just me. I hate WinXP. WinME was the one for me but regular WinXP was working fine for you on your old puter I would go with that (57)

Yep, that may help, Hawk. It sounds like you may be like me- just before throwing the thing out the window, I'll try to reformat and put something I know is stable on there (19) (19) (19) (19)
Here's something that I just figured out. Did you install DFLW with Norton running? If you did, then that COULD be one of the problems. You would have to uninstall DF, and then turn of Norton, and do all the reinstall, in the order of DFLW, Update Game, DFLWEXP, and then finally DF2EXP. Good luck! (42)
