OK

FINALLY finished it.

The game is COOOOL. Not overly impressed with the ending - a bit lame. But apparently they are creating a Trilogy so thats probably why the ending is a bit of a "To Be Continued" type. It ends, but leaves you hanging a little.

Even though I only can play at medium graphics - they are AWESOME compared to most other games. The interaction with things is very cool. Some ppl are saying the graphics are just ho-hum: but you have to really look at the WAY they work in the game - like the small things (leaves, trees, objects) - Very nice.

The AI is damn good. Some glitches but overall impressive.

And they were right, the playing field is HUGE - within each "mission" you can go everywhere - the tank battle for instance probably has a few square kilometers of playing are to zoom around in.

The first part of the game - to me - is the best. You use the suit to its fullest, stealth mode, strength - way cool. The ending with the aliens (yes aliens) is kinda lame. Just really a shoot'em up - no finesse to doing that part. Just shoot, hide, run, shoot, run, hide, shoot, etc.

Overall an excellent single player game. Takes about 12 hours to complete. You can go longer if you take time to "smell the roses" and check everything out. Some parts are VERY difficult - like killing the main aliens right at the end - be prepared to die a LOT - and DON'T overly use the F5 (save) key here - apparently it can screw it up and won't finish. You have to start from an autosaved game further back to correct the glitch. And yes, there ARE a few glitches in the game - but what game doesn't have them?

We've tried out the multi-player a little as well. Its ok, but you really need a lot of ppl in a map so its not just a lot of running around. Also, if you don't REALLY stay with it, you will get left in the dust as more experienced players take over. Ever play BattleField2? Same thing. Unless you play it a LOT you'll not enjoy it.

COOP? We've been reading where someone is already developing (or planning to) a COOP mod for the game. If they can do it right it will be great. My concern is that the AI might get lost in the complex maps. Looking forward to it - probably will be quite a while tho.

So hats off to Crytek - hope the next in the series is just as good.

Oh, just to add.

I'm the type gamer who replays games I like quite a few times, just for the hell of it - like the HalfLife series, Medal of Honour, etc.

This game? I will replay it at some point, but I'm really not sure if I would go right to the end. The best part is the first 3/4's or so - up to the aliens. The final 1/4 I might redo, but using cheat codes (yes-cheat codes) to get through it faster - I really didn't enjoy that part very much.

I second that, Aliens are a pita, especially the BIG one at the end

But the games single player missions are very good and very well done, first timers dont go above normal setting, even this is tuff.

This game is visually stunning on very high settings and just shows where games have come sinse i started playing Land Warrior online when it first came out, worth a look at just for the graphics.

As grunt said the AI is a step up from JO, they dont see you through 2 hills and 14 bushes and trees 2km away, if your hiding in the undergrowth you can be right next to them even without cloak on and they wont see you. Pick them off far enough away with your silencer attached and they wont know where you are, but if you go in all guns blazing they will all come running to the gun fire.

All we need is a decent coop MOD for this game and it would be complete, map makers have lots to play with to make us suffer and the level of detail they can add is just mind blowing, the only thing is due to this all they will have many many hours of map writing.

Having played Crysis multiplayer (and this is heart breaking to say) but at the moment in my opinion it hasnt got what I like in multiplayer, loosing your weapon every time your shot and having to buy it again once you spawn is annoying, glitches and lag even on high end machines that should have been fixed long before now.

Hosting is like BF2 with players needing to have the maps to play, not a great problem, hosting wise the whole thing is not too bad, bandwidth isnt a big issue, around the same as BF2.

Single player rocks! its really good to look at and has something for everyone almost, every minute i was playing single player i was wishing that coop had been brought out with the game so i could get some help!

Thats the biggest flaw, why why why why why when Crytek saw the demand for coop or even looked at the outcry when BF2 didnt come with coop either didnt they not stop and think "oh lets add coop" or even an expansion pack that adds support, all they can do is say... "oh well someone will make a coop mod for it"

Marks for single player 10/10 visually stunning and a good fun challenge with AI that will knock your socks off.

Marks for multiplayer (just now) 4/10 still looks good and if someone comes out with a coop mod thats any good worth while looking at again.

Tip for you Crytek, listen you the ones who actually buy the game and fix the bugs before its released and bring out a damn coop version, you have the potential to have a one hell of a game, dont blow it.
