Hello all, I've been playin df2 dflw and dfx for years but I've allways had--up until a week or so ago---dial-up. Now that I have high speed (75-90ms to novaworld) wireless DSL I can actually shoot someone without having to lead them by 3 steps WOO-HOO. Then_____Novaworld goes down (temporarily). I've never wanted to connect to another server before because frankly--it would have been embarassing. I've been trying to connect through this website but I am --well--not blessed with ANY experience in doing this. Is there a forum post or link with a tutorial for the rookie.

Hey semper fri,
nice You made it to our little corner of the internet. I am sure You will find lots of people here You like to play with
Connect to what exactly?
The website, Ventrilo server or game server?

Apparently You made it into the website, looks like no prob there.

Well, Ventrilo setup is very well described here or simply click on the Ventrilo sign on the right side of the homepage of the HmS website (You need to be logged into the website!).

If You got problems with the game itself, You might best ask one of us on VT (=Ventrilo) or post into the technical help section of the forum. Have look there, Your problem might already been solved sometime ago.
(Sadly, I am not playing DFLW or DF2, so I cannot help You with the game, but others might. If You want to be helped quickly, put as much information and details into the forum post as You have, so others can more easily understand Your problem.)

Welcome to Hardmaps!

Welcome to Hardmaps.com

You cant connect to any Novaworld games through this website or any other, if Novaworld goes down its down and you will have to wait until it is online again to play.

Try out our Ventrilo server, good times all round and it doesnt go down !

Thank You, I should have made clear that I tried to use Ventrilo and failed. I decided that it was solely for audio (teamspeak) but was apparently wrong and I just don't know how to use it. I've downloaded/installed it. I opened it and can see the games. I can click into a channel but have no idea how to get into the game (primarily DFX right now).

To connect to Novaworld (to play games) you have to start your game up, enter your username and password, login to Novaworld then click on a server you want to join.

If Novaworld goes down for some reason you will not be able to play anything until it comes back online.

You cant connect to Novaworld (to play games) using this website, teamspeak, Ventrilo etc. etc.

The reason we suggested you get Ventrilo is so you can talk to your fellow gamers while playing on our servers, it enchances gameplay.
