There's no clean link to the movie itself so here's what you may have to do: Scroll down a bit, Click on "Game intro movie", it may or may not ask you to enter your birthday, then click on "Game Intro Movie again" http://www.dawnofwargame.com/downloads/
I bought J.O. instead of this.... (57)
Edited part here: I ought to explain what's going on in this intro movie, especially for those not familiar with 40K. The film shows a skirmish between Adeptus Astartes (Space Marines) of the Blood Raven Chapter against a couple squads of Orks. 2 of the 4 armies available in the game.
A couple of Ork Fighta/Bombas strafe the Marine's position ineffectually. The Marines then lose their Predator Annihilator tank to some kind of indirect fire, emboldening the Orks to charge. When they do, a Blood Raven Dreadnaught shows up, and the marines use this as their cue to charge the Ork held hill. The melee is pretty even, true to the table top game -- hand to hand with Orks is a dubious bet to place -- (though the Heavy Bolter Marine being taken out by a flamer is crap) until an Ork Tank Busta slaps a melta bomb onto the dreadnaught's assault cannon blowing it to hell along with everyone in the area. The Blood Raven Sargeant gets up and retrieves his standard -- remarkably as he seems to have lost his power pack and is carrying his power armor with no power -- and takes the hill, still under fire from remaining Orks. Looks like he dies just as the Marine drop pods start raining from the sky, and then we get the title. Wow...why isn't this a feature film? (3) [ Edited ][ Edited ]

how utterly cool is that! bit disapointed that there are no tryanids or necrons in the game but hey you cant have everything. think that this might have to be the next buy. just wait deep there will have to be a movie soon.
Magic!!! There WAS a movie deal. There was an animation company in Seattle Washington deep into production of a film version of Bloodquest (the comic series/graphic novel about the Blood Angels). The trailer was phenomenal -- though not quite as good as the video game movie. But it had elements of Battlefleet Gothic in it which rocked!
For whatever reason, (25) Games-workshop (25) pulled the plug on it. About Dawn of War, they're about to do an Imperial Guard expansion pack, but only for online gaming. I believe they're also going to release another campaign, because as I understand, in single player, you're the Marines and it's not real tough to win.

Ok, now I've played this game. Freakin' awesome! It would be a little cooler if they allowed the Sisters of Battle...but the expansion pack is due out this summer or winter. Should be great. Hey, we will have to get together and play online sometime! Maybe I will invest in my Sisters army instead of buying fishing rods and reels.
Magic, we should get together and play a game online...granted, you will probably kick my butt, as I am still learning the rules that you know by heart! Whatcha' think?

i think thats a great idea, check on the updates because there have been a few. i think its up to 1.30 at the mo. bring on the pain my marines are ready and waiting! (20)
A year after posting this thread, I finally have Dawn of War and its expansion pack Winter Assault. (A third expansion is on the way including the Tau and another unnamed race)
Some changes were made with the patches and updates that have dumbed the marines down -- they're still as expensive but not nearly as effective to start with -- and made the other races harder, but still best game out there for RTS. I Highly HIGHLY recommend these games!! (30) (30) (30)

Deep i still havent got the expansion! Intreaged about the new on though! i so hope they will use tyranids that would be cool. One of these days i will install dawn of war on my new comp, learn how to play it again, and you and obb can kick my ass! (20)
Well worth it Magic. The Guard are challenging to play, and with Winter Assault the eldar and Orks can really mob the hell out of you. Post it when you got it reloaded. Roadblock (OBB's husband) and I have been playing it pretty regular lately... and the vt's helped out majorly... (5) ;)
Also, in a more Hardmaps orientated version of this, THQ has a game in the works called Company of Heroes. WWII rts game along the lines of Dawn of War. Looks amazing. (3)
The biggest stock maps can accomodate 8 players -- either through THQ or by direct IP play. But the arrangement is totally controllable by the host so that you could have 8 players going head to head, or on different teams, free-for-all, players vs. comp, it's all doable. Roadblock and I have been going up against the computer which, with the updates, is no small task.
Plus, you can opt to save the games and play them back at 3 different speeds and from every participant's perspective. Depending on your comp settings, you can take a god-like view or watch the play from up someone's nose. It's fantastic.
I think there are programs out there to customize your own maps, but I haven't even gotten through the stock ones yet, and with all the opponents and combinations you can do, there hasn't been a need to customize yet.
