i would advise every one to pre order there copy of windows vista .
i have been beta testing vista for 3 months now and at first didnt think it was worth the sacrifice of losing some your system resorces, as vista does fall on the heavy side of your resorces .
but after sometime have found that its well worth it for what you get , it is an awsome platform accross the board and as much as it hurts me to say it microsoft sure have thought this 1 out before bringing it up for release .
it has many nice new built in features such as a fantastic voice recognition programe that does actually work , if your scottish like me youll understand what i meen when i say it is finally great to have TTS prog being able to understand me and work .
also some good new security features such as when your system goes into hibernate mode it no longer has the vunribility of the firewall being non operational , and resulting in your system being open to attack so easy , also is more geared up to work as your complete multi media system and is more oriented towards bringing all digital technolagies together to work in perfect harmony , and a very nice feature what actually took my breath away if trying to install anything and it fails due to whatever circumstances the system reboots and on re booting prompts you saying " recovered from a previous installation failure vista has now downloaded relevent files to correct this problem would you like to reinstall programme now "
all done without you have to even try to find the correction to the problem .
finally the whole look and orientation to move round the system such as going to your control panel has all changed , and is at first a pain and you find yourself saying to self what the f**ks this all about why have they done this , but you soon get to grips with it and begin to understand why this was nescery to incoparate the new features the platform now offers the user . vista is planned for release early 2007 the rumoured date is supposidly FEB 3 2007 but this is not offical and hasnt been confirmed

way back when, windows 98 was the answer to all 95's problems, oh wait, 98SE was the fix to that!
I still have 3 computers that run and still running 3.1
anybody remember millenium? ran it once, only once, windows 2000 pro is rather stable, use it for my sever
I never ran XP home, running XP pro on, well, um, ( dont tell bill gates ) a computer
I hope when this is released in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, now 2007? it better be good.
We will see

well i can assure you it is good and microsoft i think have learned not to release a operating system before it is ready and provide constant updates to finish the product fully i also have a com running server 2000 and its very stable but this is down to the limited operations the programme will perorm also run xppro on another 3 coms and continue to have to perform reinstalls total pain considering i then have to go back and reinstall all the updates again

You have GOT to be kidding me. Microsoft doesn't CARE if its really ready because they have the market corned. Look at EI7 - they went and changed certain aspects of it so that everyone ELSE had to make changes to a system that worked well. As for Vista, anyone in a business situation will probably run screaming AWAY from this monster. What I have heard is that ONLY Microsoft digitally signed drivers will be allowed with Vista - so any new drivers (like video, networking) must be Microsoft verified b4 it will run on Vista - thats just BS - correction - thats Microsoft - same thing.

yes this is true about drivers but most manufacturers already have the new drivers in place and available
i had an issue with a soundcard it still worked but my mic input was not working and creative didnt have a new driver for this version of soundcard
but discovered setting that allows you to use it and sets up a configuration to opperate it as if in xp or 98 and then runs it accordinaly
i also agree microsoft dont care but im going by my experiances with it so far wich do seem to be impressive, although i am just waiting for it 2 go bottoms up just like all rest of there previous releases but have to say some the new features in it are great especially hibernation aspect as a lot of users dont know that when there system goes into hibernate mode that all firewall security they have in place instanly becomes non operational and worthless
but this new aspect should have been in place from win 95 anyway and microsoft are incompetant for not realising that in 1st place back in the days of 95
i suppose only the future shall tell how this will turn out
sure is a pity that lynux isnt as compatible with the majority of software ,games etc asthis would be awsome competition for microsoft and would prompt them to provide a reliable operating system

Yes I agree its a big step up. Just keep in mind its more resourse hungry than XP. Also, the hibernation bit? XP has always had it but it was never implemented properly.

I recently read something that stated that microsoft servers where far better than linux or others, and that there were fewer issues with compatibility and cost. But when you consider that microsoft practically dictates the majority of programmers, of course there will be issues for other systems as there just isnt enough damand out there. Look at the fight bt microsoft and apple - when you consider graphics - apples is light years ahead of microsoft, but they just dont have the huge base of users. It really comes down to marketting - the pc was far easier (ie hack) for ppl to "play" with than apple/mac - so it took hold faster.

Am I anti-microsoft? You betchya - but like everyone else who is, I dont really have the choice because of what I need to do in work and home. Oh well.

yeh if only some1 could design an operating system that could utalise and be able to be compatible with all excisting software & games then there sure would be light at end of the tunnel
ahh suppose we can still dream of a perfect world
ps.and bill gates would be dead

And now due out for multi-year beta testing is the new Windows 3000 XP Spincterplex OS. Runs on a new NTFS32 file system offering stability we said was there before but we lied. The actual GUI will be decked out in eye catching polka-dot blotto and several new bleedeye blend toolbars and message windows. One universal driver will run all devices providing they are DirectX 10 compatable and only backwards compatible with version 5b. Internet will be a snap with it's new groundbreaking technology called "ServerFetch" IP preamble software. Media and games? You bet!!! OpenGL debug for Windows Spincterplex will be included with additional support for at least two more non-nVidia based graphics cards bringing the grand total to 2.

Instead of activating widows, there will be a shockwave and java based game just before you first enter windows called "Crack & Hack". You will be given 3 chances to crack the activation code per day with a 30 day overall limit where the software will automatically destroy itself.

Keep an eye out for this new version in its new flame-retardant tamper resistant packaging and 215 page installation instruction booklet along with a 346 disc floppy clean boot installer set. It will be available on 4 DVD disks.

Have a great day kids! and remember, it's not just an idea, it's Microsoft!

Once they'll make it a lot cheaper I will consider buying it.
For the full pakkage Vista Pro I'll have to pay around 700 euro's. Thats rediculous.

The automatic update of new install files however is very interesting...

I think I'll wait untill some of my friends have tried it.
