Wouldn't suprise me, my little boy sings baa baa black, purple, white, green (think of a colour) sheep, as the teachers do not want to discrimanate. PC brigade gone mad.

it is sad...they say that not knowing ones history leads it to be repeated...imagine a whole generation of kids domed to repeat those mistakes made before them.

I regrettably agree with Ranger so sad it was a dark time in our history of man it I pray will never be repeated. We as people must learn from our past

The trouble with learning from the past is that it makes man more dangerous than he was before. not just in war but in life.
Sorry but I disagree with this. This is excatly why President Eisenhower said these words, "Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because somewhere down the track of history some bastard will get up and say that this never happened" And this very thing is happening RIGHT NOW! I think this quote from Edmond Burke says it all, "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."Edmund Burke

Well, into the fray.........
First, This original post seems to have been based mainly on urban legend, though the one college that had apparently made this policy has since recinded it. I do however find the concept of ignoring or worse yet denying the events of history very objectionable and I commend MNG for trying to prevent such a miscarrage.
Secondly, I could find no Authoritative source to document that quote was attributed to GENERAL Eisenhower (his rank at the time it was refered to). I do find the quote to be very appropriate and relevant (for whomever actually said it) to the time of the related incident and in fact to much of today's general atmosphere.
Thirdly, before you get too self inflated Gungho, I take exception to your last post from several points......... A) while it is well documented that PRESIDENT Eisenhower was given morphine (for 6 hours) in 1955 during treatment for a heart attack, B) the quote the MNG attributed to him was in a time frame at the end of the war in the European theater (theatre if you prefer), so i believe he would certainly know what he was talking about. C) I would also contend that he did do the real work..... having served in the infantry and tank corp during the first world war and rising up through the ranks to lead the planning and direct the assualt on the coast of Normandy.
Finally, I am glad you were in the special boat service and I hope it was not as a clerk, because your writing and spelling are atrocious (that means dreadful). I hope you are better at throwing bullets than words. It must be a Scottish thing..... While I may disagree with you, I'll defend your right to make yourself sound ignorant as I know I have done the same on more than one occassion. The difference between ignorance and stupidity is that ignorance can be cured and stupid is for life. That said, and now that I have peed in everyone's Cherrios, welcome to the Hardmaps site m8.
