I log on the internet using AOL and all is fine but when i open a new session up using IE and get a website up on there, where there should be pics (like on the hardmaps first page with the intro etc) instead of a pic i just get a box with a red x at the top left corner!?!?!? its the same when i log into hardmaps its the same with the jo stats etc on the right. It seems to do it on most sites not just one or two.
Help please if anyone can.
Thanks all and a happy new year.

Well its fine on the AOL side of it. Its just when i select the IE from the desktop, coz i can surf with aol or just use IE, the only reason i have to use aol is to actually sign on to the internet. After that i can just minimize aol and use the normal IE form my desktop and thats the one the problem is with.

In IE go into the TOOLS-OPTIONS - I think under the ADVANCED OPTIONS scroll down to the MULTIMEDIA spot - there might be a unchecked box for SHOW PICTURES.

You MIGHT also be able to right-click one of the RED X's where the pics are supposed to be and there might be an option to make sure you can view them.

Occasionally everyone gets a RED X, its usually bc the website doesnt send the picture through fast enough and the browser just skips it.

Have you updated or installed any internet security software like McAfee or Norton that has firewalls and privacy along with the regular virus scanner?

Well the only thing i have done is just updated to IE 7 but apart from that i use AVG and it just updates itself every morning at about 3 o clock. It has been like this for a while and never really bothered to much but i thought i'd give it a shot and see if anyone knew of the same problem, i thought it may be some type of active x or java problem but i really dont know. :)

If you got dsl, or cable do not bring up AOL just bring up your IE and it should take you to the web site if you get just little pics it is in your setting of IE and go in to add and remove programs and bring up windows componants and reset your IE to default settings. DO NOT REMOVE IT

I tell you what it is....it is a little bitty ghost in your pc ....the only way to fix it is to kill it

The problem lies with your >>>ISP<<< my does the same thing....always I can get on with AOL... and when I use my explorer sometimes it works for weeks on end and then all of a sudden BANG it stops and I have to go back using AOL....I called the service provider on the phone while I was on line and they did not have a CLUE...all they could say was the site I was going to must have me blocked.....nope it just does that sometimes....welcome to the furture

Try Mozilla Firefox - might bypass all this.

Was talking to my web hosting company about IE once - they said the new IE has changed how some things get displayed - but the rest of the wolrd stayed using the stable proven source code. This causes some pages to not get displayed correctly with IE - leave it to Microsoft to mess with a good thing. "Do it OUR way or ELSE"
