COOP and a good map editor are simply must haves for me to buy this game. COOP for the reason it's the only game type I play, a good map editor because playing the same stock maps over and over gets boring after a while.

Here's some additional DFAF info - from ravenn:
DFAF is it's own thing - and won't be in the same vein as DFX The new animation software uses motion capture from PhaseSpace
The new game engine is very different - not another variant of the Blackhawk engine
There is a totally new AI system as well
The Network code in DFAF is totally different, too - and able to handle a ton of entities for some insanely big game maps
Not certain yet if the new NILE Studio will be included with the beta - there might be a seperate test - totally TBD
NILE Studio is way better than either MED or NILE - much more powerful and user friendly it doesn't support DFX or JO and no plans to make it backwards compatible
You can run DFAF in NILE Studio - making testing much easier
NILE Studio is pretty slick and is way more efficient - than 95% of the editors that I've seen

This is just a quick update on the status of DFAF since there is currently a lot of speculation in the forums:
DF:AF will not be released until at least Q1 2010. DF:AF uses a new cutting edge engine with some awesome technical feats that I am still not allowed to talk about. We showed some of it privately at GDC behind closed doors but we are still not ready for a public unveiling. System requirements are not fixed yet but likely it will require a minimum of shader model 3 video hardware and a lot of RAM. We do still plan to have a Beta but not until sometime after DFX2 is on the shelves and past its first update. There is currently no Beta at all so ignore the rumors on that.
DFX2 conversely uses an enhanced version of the JO engine and has fairly modest system requirements. Please do not confuse these 2 products as they have almost nothing in common.

In other words - wait for the game to come out, then buy all new and the most expensive hardware you can get so it will run with high speed and maximum graphics.

Notice that coop was at the BOTTOM of their list???? Also does not state how MANY human players - just a huge number of combatants - which could easily just be 2 players vs. many bots. Sigh.
* Exciting single player missions spread over several campaigns. * Challenging multiplayer maps supporting multiple game types. * Scenarios, tactics and equipment inspired by extensive consultations with former Delta Force personnel. * Large, open environments with operating land, air and sea vehicles. * Gratifying gunplay, well-balanced weapons, and tactically interesting dynamic environments. * Support for huge numbers of combatants per game with co-operative play against all new AI

This is apparently leaked footage of Novalogic's new engine. The 1st game to use this engine is Angel falls and will be released on Xbox, PS3 and PC hopefully by the end on the year.
