Better yet, in the next week or two, a free beta of DFX2 will be available for everyone to download and check out both the single player and (of course) the multiplayer gameplay. Our plan is to let our Gold members test-drive the servers for a while first, and then open it upto the public. The response we’ve had on DFX2 from GDC has been overwhelmingly positive and we’re excited to give everyone a sneak preview of the real deal.
Played a few games yesterday, but not much as there is no COOP in the beta. So I couldn't judge COOP mode, but based from what I saw in the TKOTH map, I think I'll stick with JO for COOP gaming. DFX2 had some nice features for COOP like mobile spawn points and the blur effect when you were wounded. However no medics but instead an auto heal script in the global game.wac, and no armories but DFX style powerups and very limited choice of weapons at the start. Haven't noticed the parachute either?
Might be a nice game for people who play stock maps all the time, but haven't been able to see what it offers for custom COOP map gamers and map makers. The average JO mod has more new objects, and some JO mods have mobile spawn points as well (although not as many as DFX2). With auto heal instead of medics and no weapon classes, what will be left of the team factor in the game that is so important in COOP?
I have played in EU and US severs, I could not find the parachute ether, asked my friend on the TS we were in he said you need to jump about 5 times to get it to deploy. I agree you can't tell how good the COOP will be in a demo sever of TKOTH, The names of friendly players are not clear enough, the live player and dead are to close.(throw) What was wrong with the DFX green, yellow, red, and white?
Weapon choice is limited again, and you only get one secondary the pistol, this game will need the moder's to help NOVA out again! Playing the TKOTH has not changed my mind on my vote in the poll I gave it a 1 as there was no 0. They are tiring to flog a dead horse here, and con us into paying for the same game with another official mod.(sleeping)
I found the parachutes now, you seem to have unlimited parachutes, but you have to deploy them yourself by pressing space. That is better then in JO, where they open after a few seconds and you are on open target for a minute, here you don't have to open it until the last second.
But just that won't make me get the game, I think if they want to sell a recycled game like that to COOP players they need lots of new buildings for mappers to work with, improved AI, higher limits (like 2500 objects, 750 AI, 1500 markers) and less server-sync problems like in JO where the host sees things players don't (custom goals, player waypoint triggers, several special effects).
According to the headlines on the novaworld forum, DFX2 has been released now. It is said to have 9 COOP missions included, as well as a powerful map editor (most likely updated DFXMED) to create your own maps.
So did anybody get it already and is be able to tell what is it like? Is it worth it for COOP mappers/gamers, or can you do more with the latest JO mods and JO update? The beta update from JO includes certain of the new DFX2 features as well, no need to buy DFX2 to use them if that update becomes final some day.

I went to have a look at Novalogics website for info about DFX2, system specs and what the game has etc. I cant find it, when I click the link for ordering it it just takes me to the checkout. I looked in the forums and cant see any info either, just the usual people typing for typings sake and no actual interesting information.
Has anyone found the information thats on the back of the box anywhere ? Im just curious as to what the system specs are compaired to JO and if it really only has 4 player coop.

There is a lobby here where you can see what is being hosted for DFX2. You can see the official COOP server are set to 8 players, and I saw an unofficial COOP server with 16 as limit, so I guess it's the same as in JO that you can choice how many players. Although more then 16 wouldn't be a good idea, you will likely run into problems then with a COOP.
In the announcement on Novaworld forum they stated that to use certain features you will need to have gold membership, did anyone manage to find which features these are? DFX2 comes with 30 days of free gold membership (how nice of them.......), but after that it costs about $30 a year. From what I've read in the countless rants and complaints in the DFX2 forum over at novaworld it seems to join some servers you need gold membership, however I couldn't find a full list of features that require you to pay again after buying the game to use it.
Something tells me Novalogic is out of money, they re-release an old game for $30, introduce gold membership, started to charge money to rename your character. This all after announcing DF:AF on a brand new engine, did they make a mistake how much it costs and how long it takes to create a game with a whole new next-gen engine? It's not the first company where creating a new engine for their next title results in their death.... They also have been caught for using illegal software a few years ago, which costed them a bunch of money as well.
Well the stock maps in JO were also easy, I'm sure hms could fix that if they make maps for it. But what about the weapons you can pick? In the beta it was very limited, in fact you could only pick a primary and choose a satchel, AT4 or RPG as explosive, that was it. Couldn't find the JO:TR and JO:ESC weapons as stinger, javelin, claymore, body armor, shotgun, target designator and mortar in the beta. Also any sign of armories? In the beta you had to kill yourself when you used your only AT4.

We are not sure we will be doing anything with DFX2, at the moment we are waiting to see what people think, how many players get it and it if lasts.
From what you say it is just like DFX just with upgraded graphics, nothing extra to make people switch from the DFX they play just now so im not rushing out to get it.
Im not sure if it is worth the $30 at the moment for an update to a game I already have, one that could have easily been an expansion like escalation but was turned into a new game instead, especially when Arma 2 is out next month, might spend my money on that first even if it doesnt have full coop.
Limited weapons, no armories, those are things you have to keep in mind as map maker. For example, without stingers you cannot create a large air assault, and without javelins having an enemy convoy with tanks to destroy can be a problem.
For me it doesn't sound like a game that is very interesting for coop map makers, as in order to keep the map enjoyable, you have to limit the enemy forces to what a team of, let's say, 6 people can take out with their load-out. If a team of 6 has 4 engineers with in total 4 AT4s and 4 Stingers driving in 2 jeeps and 2 medics driving an armory truck, you can make the map a whole lot harder then if you have 6 people with each 1 AT4 they cannot reload or change to stinger at the armory truck.
There is little hope left, as Novalogic said that some features would not be available at the time of release but would be available later through an update. However I personally don't think they mean the additional weapons and armories with that, as they already had those from JO and could have simply included them right at the release if they wanted them.
