OK
So been playing the campaign for a little while now.
WOW.
Its fast paced, and FUN!!!!.
I found the BF3 campaign to be a bit boring in that you were lead around and were so stringently controlled in where and what you could do I got rather sick of it - to the point I'm not sure if I'll even complete it.
Now this COD:MW3 campaign is simlilar in that yes you are lead around and are locked into a route, but you have more flexibility in how you do things.
Did I mention it's fun?
So the graphics aren't as killer edge as BF3 - but its so damn fun to play I'm gonna have to set a time limit on playng this or I'll go all night.
The gameplay literally starts off from the end of COD:MW2 campaign where the Russians hit the US. The first mission has you taking out some anit-communication device - and you get to have a go at a drone - then onto a mission underwater to attack a submarine.
Quite the wild ride - and fun.
And when you get right done to it - fun is where it's at in games.

So if you were to have to make a choice between buying BF3 or MW3 which would it be?
Since I haven't fully tried out MW3's multiplayer or coop yet - I can't really say at this point. From a single player point of view I like MW3 much better.
The multiplayer in BF3 is damn good - not sure if you've done BF:Bad Company 2 - thats very simliar to the multiplayer gaming style of BF3 - ok - its the same - just different maps, weapons and graphics - but exactly the same game play - more or less.
I never really did the multiplayer (other than coop) in MW2 so can't compare or even guess yet.
Bear in mind that a lot of HmS who have the PC power to run it has already bought/played BF3 - so its possible that one might stay around for a while.
