Received a message from Tiger last night. He is safe, all is pretty well at his house, but he is out of power. Said it may be as long as a week or more.

Glad to hear that Tiger is OK. But being a week out of power, subsequently without communication or all the other nice things of civilization ... shudder ... maybe that windmill was no bad idea after all. At least our Tiger is no cat in the rain after all!!! I hope I will see him online soon!

You never know when or where I'm going to turn up LOL. Update Mutch damage in my neighborhood w/ lots of trees down (some on houses) but only a few deaths in Louisiana. My neighbor across the street got a pair of trees through his roof, but I only had a pecan limb in the yard. Only cosmetic damage to my house. I feel soooo fortunate. Moved all of my food from the freezer and fridge to neighbors that were running generators. Great people in south Louisiana. I have been resisting buying a generator and window AC, but am rethinking that position.
Estimation of electricity return is from 1 to 28 days....... Massive infrastructure damage. I have not heard any thing on when my high speed ISP will be back up. Line damage there too. ICNA will be back up as soon as I can get it all sorted out. i have evacuated to my sisters about 200 miles away for a couple of days so that I could see what proteus had to say about me. LOL. I keep y'all posted when and if I have another chance. Thanks for your kind thoughts. I like my global on line neighbors as well!

Louisiana was hit 3 years ago by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita ~ about 1 month apart. This year (last Month) we were hit by 2 more....... Gustav and Ike.

Its truly sad people loose their homes, or lives, in a situation like this. However, if you build on the coast in a known hurricane area, you take your chances. It would be a great view on the coast, when your not spending all your time rebuilding.

The power of hurricanes are mind blowing, one minute all ok the next your looking around at utter devistation.
In the UK we have been building houses on flood plains for a while now, its now hitting home when you get the kind of weather we have had the last few years, so many people loosing their things and lives at risk, such a shame.
Glad you and your family are ok Tiger, move to Scotland, all we get here is rain.
