The test map was okay, but from all the news about this mod, I expected more. A bunch of the 'new' buildings aren't new at all, I have seen them in other mods before (like the under construction building and the crane that was placed on top of it, and some others as well).

One of the things I was looking forward to were the new big ships, specially the one with spawn point inside. But it disappointed me when I went on and inside the bit battle ship. At first I thought the new mod would have reset my graphics options, because it looked like my texture detail was set to very low. But it turned out it was still set to very high, and the textures were no better then that. Also the interior was, to keep it short, boring. The ship was huge, it had lots of rooms, but there was nothing inside. I haven't been able to find the armory yet, that according to the description should be inside as well.

Also the LCAC and Aircraft Carrier disappointed me a bit. I expected more then a plain looking empty ship. Maybe the air carrier can be made more interesting with some objects since it appears to be static, but with the drivable boats that is no option.

Maybe I expected a bit to much of the first public release. Based on all the publicity around this mod, I expected it to be something special. It can still be a nice mod, but it doesn't look like what I expected based on all publicity.

I have not yet seen the new mod, but I will say this-

I think that until YOU put the time and dedication and effort into creating something like this, then you really have no understanding of what goes into it, and just how much time and effort the ICE guys put into this HOPING to earn your approval and to entertain you just a little bit.

For the naysayers, I say, why aren't you developing a mod to your liking?

Having said all of that, I will check it out soon, and as a simple gamer I'm sure to be impressed.

I wanna set something straight here - from all the posts above you might get the impression that we here at Hardmaps helped develop this mod and thats why we are defending it.

All I can say is NO - we didn't help out. We might be hosting a download of it but we would do that anyway.

Yes some things don't look "quite" the way you'd like, but remember that the "graphics" end just doesn't cut it with JO when compared to Crysis, Vegas, etc - its an old game.

It comes down to the game play and whether it works with the bots - THATS where it will stand the test. Unfortunately there are no maps other than test maps to check out the objects.

My concerns is that will the bots be able to use all this new stuff - and if we can even defeat them in some of the new toys (stationary gattling gun for instance).

Until we get these maps to give it a real test, lets comment but keep in mind we haven't really USED it yet to truely give it a workout.

It seems the speed of the chinook helicopter has been increased so much in this mod that lots of maps that use the chinook will no longer work correctly. I found that at least 2 maps I made for TR don't work correctly in ICE because the chinook goes so fast it misses waypoints. I hope they will fix this in the next release, because now this mod isn't fully compatible with TR and ESC maps.

It's been said from the beginning that this mod isn't backwards compatible with previous mods / releases of Join operations..
Lot of objects have been replaced by new ones...so internal numbers don't match anymore or are taken by new objects...

NUT ACE out..

i would rather not play the same map ive played a hundred times with a new weapon which would be if we played old maps in a new mod...only change would be the weapons...new mod should have new maps. cycling in the same old maps is more of a slackers way of filling your server map roster...i'll wait patiently for the great maps that trev and shad are sure to be workin on....or even remakes of older maps with a few twists and turns but not just upload the old map as is.

Don't hold your collective breaths - this has to be verified by the evil genius's but they may not bother with maps for this mod. Turns out that well over half the time when you host AND play the server will crash as soon as someone joins. With this being the case and the way we make/test maps our guys might feel its just not worth the hassle of having to reboot their computers - and taking a dedi server off-line isn't worth the hassle with the number of people we usually have in them.

Spending hours making maps only to have your computer crash as soon you try to test it really turns people off. We've heard this from others as well so its not just us having this problem. Looks like a great mod - but if the map makers get frustrated making maps - it will go nowhere in a hurry.
