Small Question (at least I think it is )

I'm building a coop map. I want the player to start in a hovering helicopter.
So I added the flyable Chinook with armory (height 200 Mtrs). Inside the helo I placed the start player mark.

And yes , when I start the level The helo falls down with me in it.

How do I get the Helo to stay in the air??

Thanx...

no put a piece of small chain link fence flat under the helo to hold the helo up in ther air where you want it to be...then make sure you have a bot in the pilots seat to keep player from stealing the helo....last make the helo and the pilot invinsible or players will just kill the chopper then steal it when it respawns

if you want them to start in the helo and then have a bot fly everyone to another location then start on the fence and have a delay so everyone can spawn in the chopper then have the bot fly everyone to the first spawn point

That would be my next question...How do I place a bot on the pilots seat?? and how do I choose a character to be a bot?...

now thats a little more technical it involves first choosing the bot then writing a wac command telling that bot to use the helo (which makes the bot get in the helo)....you could ask someone or just find a map that already does something like what you want done then break it down and read what they did with the wac files, thats how some people learn to make maps they break down what others have done already. and believe me i am not a map maker, i just asked the same question you did once...lol and have patience. unlike some i believe the only stupid question is the one you did not ask someone will eventually step up and tell you how its done. in the mean time research it a bit surf the forums of various jo sites and you will find that question answered already.

Well that's very easy to do. Do like this:

if never() then
SSN2SSN(1248,66783)
endif

Pilot (1248) is inside of chopper not touching anything, start.player is inside chopper (66783) not touching anything, the chopper is just a hair or 2 above then visible fence and in hover mode, and everything mentioned is set at absolute height.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And if you want that chopper has a fence and fance opens after some time->

if never() and OnTick(20) then
removeSSN(132321)
removeSSN(132322)
endif

Hope I help you!

That´s really easy in Xmed, here I´m using a 50cal as object, but you can use anything.
Place a 50cal. put a bg right next to it. Mark the 50 cal and check the info screen on the left side off the screen.
It´s should be something like
"Selected: 1
Item #446
Name: E50triB - 50cal on 360
SSN: 449"

Item# and SSN are just choosen that way by me, could be anything
Remember the SSN number
Mark the bg right next to it. Right click on your mouse and choose "Edit Item attributes"
Change the top alternative in the Box called Waypoints to "125 - Goto SSN (any)" and in the box to the right of it place 449.

This will make the bg attach to the 50 cal.

If you want it to be a bot (friendly computer controlled guy) choose a american pilot (he becomes a bot direct) or place any character in the pilot seat and change him to team 1.

Its been a while sinse I looked at nile but i remember this:-

You need the move ssn to ssn command, create a bot and call him polit1 and create a chopper and call that chopper1 so you know what they are when your going through the object list, then find the move ssn to ssn command in your wac tab, and select pilot1 to move to chopper1, they will defalt to the drivers seat at first, any other people you add will go to the co-pilots seat and any additional seat, if the pilot gets shot out the co-pilot will take over.

This works with most things, if you want a bot to use a 50 cal or a boat or a jeep etc, just remember to rename the bot and object you want to use so you can find them in your ssn list, and group things together, 50 cals in one folder, jeeps in another and so on.

And as stated before you cant have people spawning into a hovering chopper, you can however have them spawn into a chopper thats sitting on a horizontal wall or fence high above the ground, have the pilot spawn on this fence and once the map starts he will get in and power up the helo. Once the helo is powered up you can vaporise the wall or fence.

want to make it even easier?..

then do this: (copying Sb reapers suggestion)

if never() then
SSN2SSN(1248,66783) //1248=pilot 66783 is chopper
ssnuse(1248)
endif

this way u can place the pilot anywhere on the map... 10000 km from the chopper if u will when the event fires the pilot will be teleported to the drivers seat of the chopper.

That's a good Idea 2 .. Now when I decide to move the Helicopter to another position on the map, I don't have to move all the pilot's to..

(I have 4 pilots on board to keep the players from using the miniguns).

greetzzz
