Wedge,

I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You! For all the work that you have done for and continue to do. This thing with the website would have probably caused me to throw in the towel. But you just got right to work and got the site back up in 2 days. Such dedication is contagious(spelling?) . I am sure that I am not the only one who feels this way. Again, Thank You for all you do and keep up the good work.

Thank you Hawk, it is a shame we live in a world that has people in it causing trouble for others, i could have done without a website rebuild, and its a shame we lost a few weeks of data but im glad it wasnt the whole thing we lost, we have nearly 1000 registered members which would have been terrible to loose.

Hardmaps has a good team behind it keeping everything running from the servers to the website, and without that support i wouldnt have even tried to rebuild it, so thanks to Grunt and Trevor as well for their help in the website rebuild.

I hope everyone likes the new features of this site and given time the things that are still not online like the JO Lobby and Gallery will be back up and running, my main concern was getting the main part back up as soon as possable.

What are y'all thanking Wedge for? He is just doing the job we pay him that exorbitant CEO/CIO Salary to do.

Oh, wait a minute, thats right.......... we don't pay him a salary at all. In fact, he pays for everything just so he has the pleasure of our company so the we can whine and complain and bicker giving him the opportunity to play referee, troubleshooter, and cheif bottlewasher.

OK, so maybe thanks ARE in order. In fact, I believe we owe more than that to the man that started all this madness. I nominate Wedge for "SUPREME DICTATOR FOR LIFE (or until he gets married)"

Seriously Wedge, Thank you and the crew and all of the 1000s of support folks for all you do to enable us to play and take our minds of the world.

i'm not 100% sure yet, but i think i'm getting spammed again eveytime i logon to HardMaps. is this one of the problems that caused the rebuild? it seems like i remember reading somewhere that spamming was one of the issues. please let me know what (if anything) i can do to help monitor this.

Thanks for everything *HmS*Wedge and Crew!!!!!!!!!!! RULZ!

You may have one of two things on your computer:
A. - a virus
B. - spyware

For a virus check you can go to - http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ to scan for free.

For a spyware problem, there are a number of freeware/shareware products out there........ and comercial ones too. I use Spy Sweeper, but Adaware and Spybot search are good as well.

Try running a combination of those products and you should rid yourself of most problems.

i did not mean to make it sound like HardMaps was sending the spam or that HardMaps was even knowingly connected. maybe its just a coincidence. my nightly routine consists of checking the server status on hardmaps.com (so see whats up and whats not), playing for a few hours, checking hardmaps again (forums & such). then i check my email and i have 2-3 spams that have been filtered out. they're mostly foreign (to me) with subjects that dont make any sense. i just mark them as spam and move on. they stopped back when hardmaps.com was redone and now they've started back.

thanks Tiger. i just ran the virus scan on saturday and i run Ad-Aware SE on a regular basis. i'm behind a firewall & my kids DO NOT use my machine. i keep it as clean as i can.

just thinking out loud here, but could it be MOD related (DJ2 or DJ3)??

Flasher- there's a reason people are working hard on anti-spam laws- lol! These characters can get your information from any number of sources. I'm with Tiger on the possible causes. I run the Microsoft Anti-Spyware on mine, I think it's now called Defender.

But heck, I get spammed all the time, especially on quick©hardmaps.com...

ok i had a spell of these POS problems just a few days ago,,,somehow it loaded three programs on my pc and niether win defender, norton, adaware, or any of them picked it up as a problem but, it did show in win defender, not as a adware or spyware, just as three unknown running processes...througfht some trial and error found out that they were connected,,,if you shut down one, the other started it back up. if you deleted one...one of the other reloaded it...trick was to go into safe mode and delete all three at the same time.... attch.exe, decon.exe, regicon.exe

they would fill my inbox full of stuff along with about a million pop-ups. but i know it didnt come from here...came from a joke pic site i wont mention so none of you are tempted to go there and get infected yourselves.

I didnt think that flasher, i was just letting you know it wont be from here, there are scanners that will scan a website for any e mail address they can find, that is why any e mail address posted in the forum is now replaced with a link which looks like -email- so the scanner wont find it here, if you post your e mail address in the open (yourname@yourdomain.com) it will find that and spam you.

The only thing hardmaps records is cookies so you know which forum post you have read and if you have used the poll, simple things like this, when the site was used to send spam it was just a cgi script that was used to send out spam probably not to hardmaps users but to people this twerp had found that left their e mail address in a spot he could get to.

You wont get any viruses or spyware from here, its probably just a coincidence flasher, do as tiger and ranger suggested as you might have something nasty running in the background.
