(95) WHY CANADIANS ARE SO TIRED
For a couple years I've been blaming it on lack of sleep, not enough sunshine, and too much pressure from my job, ear wax build-up, poor blood or anything else I could think of. Now I've found out the real reason I'm tired -- because I'm overworked. Here's why: The population of Canada 30 million. 11 million are retired, that leaves 19 million to do the work. There are 5.5 million in school, which leaves 13.5 million to do the work. Of the remaining, there are 3 million employed by the federal government, leaving 10.5 million to do the work. 1 million are in the armed forces, preoccupied with killing terrorists, which leaves 9.5 million to do the work. Take from that total the 7 million people who work for Provincial and city Governments, and that leaves 2.5 million to do the work. At any given time, there are 476,000 people in hospitals, leaving 2,024,000 to do the work. Now, there are 1,211,998 people in prisons and 812,000 on Employment Insurance and Welfare. That leaves just two people to do the work. You and me. And there you are sitting on your ass, at your computer, reading jokes. Nice. Real nice.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it's still on my list.

It is a beautiful country Grunt. We were up there on vacation summer before last and I was indeed amazed at how sparsly populated it was. To put it into perspective for everyone...... that's the population of California spread out across the whole country, which is actually quite a large land mass stretching from coast to coast. We toured New Brunswick, the Gaspe' Penensula, and Nova Scotia. Very picturesque, reminding me of European villages that I have seen pictures of. We went to Hall's Harbor on the Bay of Fundy, where the tide change is a difference of about 48 feet which happens twice a day. TRUELY AMAZING! (53)

Big? Lets put it into perspective - one of our Provinces (Prince Edward Island) is 5600sq.km. - a Ontario provincial park (Algonquin Provincial Park-about 1hr drive from me) is 7700sq.km. and Scotland (home of our glorious leader) is 77000sq.km - only a TENx larger than a PARK in my backyard. The nearest major city (100,000+) is over 1.5 hours away at 120km/h (75mph). And only around 5% of our entire landmass is accessable with mobile cell phone coverage. Going north take 2 days of solid driving to get out of my province, 1 day to the southwest. I can drive north for about 4 hours and get to an area where there are more moose than people.
