Since it's the map editor that is keeping JO alive, I hope the new game will get an editor as well that isn't as crap as NILE. It's okay if they use NILE as a base, but they should fix all the bugs and include all the missing features. It would be nice to have an editor where all the features work as they should for once. Cause even in the med editor, where a lot more things work then in NILE, there are still things that don't work correctly.
And I was wondering, does novalogic mostly release the editor together with the game or a few months/years later when they see that people don't want to play the official maps anymore? For the current games they are sort of compatible, for JO most people seem to use the DFX editor now, but that one probably wasn't released at the same time as JO.

Nile is only crap if you don't know how to use it. I don't know when was the last time you checked Nile, but all known "bugs" have been fixed. And with Nile's Little Helper your coding is much much easier and faster.
I don't use NILE myself because of all problems with it, but sometimes I use it to check out a map. And even with the latest update it's still full with bugs and half of the features that are very useful for COOP are missing.
I don't know what NLH has to do with this, as that is an unofficial tool not made by novalogic. The editor itself (which will be used as base if the rumours are true) still have all the bugs and problems in it, and therefore they still have lots to fix before they can use NILE as a base. I don't know what NLH all does now, since I don't have it. I had it when it was still free (never used it however since I don't make maps with NILE anyway) but when for some reason he started trying to make money with it I decided I would never buy it because I don't support the idea that a single person in an online community makes money while everybody else (map makers and people hosting dedicated servers) offer their services for free. Some people in the community even have expenses (server hosting isn't free like programming or map making) and still don't charge money.
So I hope the next game has a map editor that works as it should without any unofficial tools. Because what we saw with NLH is that you can't trust unofficial tools, suddenly they start to charge money for it and all old versions stopped working. And I don't think you should depend on unofficial tools for the most basic functionalities. Map making is what keeps games like this alive, without mapping tools hardmaps probably wouldn't exist, since the hardmaps servers survive on custom COOP maps.
Hopefully novalogic will take mapping more serious in the future. In JO there are still countless bugs left in the game engine (waypoint advancement events not working in multiplayer, customized win subgoals not showing, team changing bots not visible, and many many more never fixed bugs). Yes, JO mapping is still alive besides the bugs still left in the editors and engine, but I think without those bugs there would be even better and more custom maps being made, and therefore more people would be playing the game. Without COOP and without custom maps, novaworld would be as empty as my glass of juice. I hope they won't make a mistake not to include those 2.

I probably should have put it in a different way...
I didn't mean that the level editor is gonna be made upon the NILE base... It's a Completely new editor which should have an interface like NILE...Because the new game from NOVA has a new engine, neither NILE or MED can be used for it, simply because they were build for JO and BHD...(old engines) Werther NOVA is gonna b smart enough not to release a faulty Editor ? We'll just have to wait and see...

But, really - all this is mute cuz if the idiots don't add coop - wuts the point???
Hardmaps is based on cooperative play against the AI in the computer, not beating each other to death in deathmatch (and to keep the twits quite-yes we have a tdm server - ONE out of HOW many???)

Not the right news I was hoping for. Don't get me right it's a nice game, nice graphics but NO COOP!! Then what's the idea of this game?? All previous Nova games had coop maps from Delta Force 1 to Joint Ops.

Blackhawk Down didn't have coop either.
thats why the game is $10 at wal-mart for 3 years now, ans still on the shelf

Taken from the Novaworld forum.
In addition to the screenshots released on the MTR website last week, we got a couple more for you in the Gallery section of the NovaWorld 2.0 alpha site. Yeah, you heard right - there's a new NovaWorld coming soon. : )
Don't get too excited yet - only the gallery page is open right now - all other functionality has been temporarily disabled. There will be a beta for NW2 in the near future.
In the meantime, enjoy a couple more shots of Angel Falls. You saw it here first.
