Yep, I knew about this, but this is a good place to discuss it.

What version of windows are you running? What soundcard do you have? Also, have you updated your soundcard drivers to the most recent version?

Sounds like a soundcard issue, some cards wont accept 2 input sources, check you have the very latest drivers, try the help pages on www.ventrilo.com.

I have found that when i log into game I lose sound from VT for a second but then it comes back. Also when going from one game to the next but only for a few seconds then it fine. I live with it.

The most likely cause is your sound card or graphics card, make sure you have the most up-todate drivers, but older cards will not be able to cope with to many things at once, you may be asking to much of your system resources at the moment to handle VT and the game.

Go for upgrading your sound card first, they are cheaper than a graphics card and the most likely cause for your problems, something for your christmas wish list ;)

Right it boils down to your mixer also. And make sure you have direct sound checked in the VT setup screen. And see what the direct sound device mixer is listed in the box. Like Wedge mentioned be sure your drivers are up to date.
