Try running Ventrilo in admin mode if you havnt already. Right click on the desktop icon for ventrilo and then run it as administrator. I get the exact same problem if i dont do the above, hope this helps.
thanks guys, i'll try that now... gotta love when u spend more then enough money for a awesome laptop, and that happens..
now what bout the other issue, with my game not saving the update, cause every time i start it up, it makes me have to do the update or i cant play the game, should i have to reinstall it? also, if u got the links for where i can get the direct updates to manually install it, i'd appreciate that alot..
Also i was told that u have the other expansions for J.O.... I escalation for mines..

Try to execute JO as administrator as well before You run the update. Best way: log in as administrator and execute JO as administrator by right click on the icon and selection of the option. If that does not work try a reinstallation of JO as administrator and then repeat the update process as admin as well.

Not very secure, but honestly I am doing the same. As long as You know what You are doing while You are surfing the net ...
But there is usually the option "Execute as administrator" (or something similiar, can only check the German Windows version atm) when You right click on an Icon or EXE-file, even when You are already logged in as administrator!
Be sure to choose that when installing anything on Your machine!
Some say, that if You see me, it is probably too late..

I can confirm the right-click, Properties, Compatibility, Run as administrator option.
