We have been informed by our Ventrilo hosting company that they will be closing down at the end of May, the Ventrilo we are using now will be replaced just before it shuts down with a new host.
We are looking at new hosts and will pick one soon.
Things you need to know.
Keep an eye out for updates on this website about a new host because you......
Will need up update your Ventrilo server details to the new host, the server we are using just now will no longer exist after the 30th May.
All squad members still using Ventrilo will need a new account server to access AFK parking, Grunt, Trev, LB or myself can set one up for you but you will need to be in VT for this to happen.... obviously. Unless anyone has any good reasons why the new server will be based in the UK like th eold one.

Not thought about just hosting a Teamspeak 3 server ourselves?
Lots of server machines out there that are up all the time. With TS3 you can get the server software and host a 32 slot server free of charge, cut out the middle man.
Ventrilo is showing its age now, TS3 is simply better at this point, much better audio codecs, customisability, plug-ins etc...

I was looking at gameservers.com who let you switch between VT and TS but havent discussed anything with Trev grunt and LB yet as I have just got back from holiday.
We tried TS ages ago so would need to see whats new with it compaired to VT, have to agree that VT doesnt look like its going to be updated anymore and if TS is still being suported then it might be a good option, the only thing is everyone is setup with VT and would just need to change the server address.
As for hosting it ourselves I think its probably best to get a dedicated server company to do it rather than us as we can have server issues and connection issues which would end up being a problem when it is such a backbone of Hardmaps now.
I dont mind paying for it as a 24 slot server is less then £5 now and I dont think we need more than 24 these days, be nice if we needed twice that!, ah the good old days lol.
Keep the ideas and comments coming and we will sort something out this week.

Take a good hard look at TS. Remeber, when I joined HmS, that I had my own ts running for quite some time, while already using VT? It was TS2 and I did not saw that much of a difference between VT then and TS2. Now they got TS3 and still have the same old VT version...
And regarding Your worries about chnaging over to TS, I would estimate, roughly 80% of the users already have TS installed already, since a lot of others use TS for communication... and the rest we can guide through the process easily.... it ain't witchcraft ... and I personally always thought TS was easier to setup than VT.
